In October 2016, Haiti’s southern tip was struck by Hurricane Matthew, the most violent hurricane to hit the country in the past decade. The natural disaster affected more than two million people, leaving more than 10 percent of the population in the need of humanitarian assistance overnight. REACH was deployed in Haiti in order to inform humanitarian planning and aid delivery, supporting the WASH cluster through information management and analysis and implementing multi-sector assessments in crisis-affected areas.
